Portugal – Brazil and Ivory Coast – North Korea
The Ivory Coast World Cup dream is over. Elephants beat North Korea 3-0 in Group G but their World Cup campaign ended as Brazil and Portugal qualified in the top two spots. Yaya Toure, Romaric and Salomon Kalou were on target as Ivory Coast ended their stay in South Africa with a hollow victory.
0-0 and football feast! Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz use those few words about the game between Portugal and Brazil. – I think it was a great show, a football feast.
Chile – Spain and Switzerland – Honduras
David Villa scored his third goal of the World Cup as Spain beat 10-man Chile 2-1, with both teams booking their places in the last 16.
The European champions set up a mouthwatering last-16 showdown with Portugal after winning hard-fought encounter against Chile. Chile, who started, with three-point lead in Group H, surrendered top spot to the Spanish side but still qualified for the knockout stages, where they will now face Brazil.
Switzerland missed out on a place in World Cup knockout after a 0-0 draw with Honduras.

Summary of day 13 – July 23th 2010
Slovenia – England and USA – Algeria
The favorites took the top spots in group C – although it wasn’t as easy as England and USA expected, and they had to fight hard until the last minute in the last game. England won 1-0 against the Cinderella of the group, Slovenia. But it wasn’t a brilliant victory. The only goal was scored (pretty lucky) in the 23rd minute by Jermain Defoe and that was all what England was capable to do. The last minutes of this game was just awful – England was keeping the ball in their possession, just waiting for the final whistle…
USA managed to win 1-0 as well, thanks to Landon Donovan’s goal. It wasn’t a great match either but the Americans definetely deserved their win.
Ghana – Germany and Australia – Serbia
It was a very happy evening for Ghana although they’ve lost 0-1 to Germany. In the second game of this group Australia won 2-1 against Serbia and that result suited Ghana perfectly. A beautiful winning goal for Germany was scored by Mesut Ozil. England is waiting for them in the round of 16.
“Socceroos” won thier farewell game 2-1 and the winning goals was scored by Tim Cahill and Brett Holman. Marko Pantelić made the goal for Serbia. To beat Germany and being out – that must hurt…
Summary of day 12

They had a small chance our dear France, but once again a disaster. Mexico and Uruguay are through from, group A. Argentina won with the reserves and Korea Republic manage to take the last spot from group B.

Summary of day 11

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal delivered an impressive match against Korea DPR and are ready for the next stage unless Armageddon strikes…
Portugal – Korea DPR
7 (seven!) – 0! The score speaks for itself. The Portuguese squad showed that they means serious business this year, and not even the biggest fan from Ivory Coast can have any hope left.
Chile – Switzerland
Chile did what they have to do – win! But their score isn’t impressive and if they lose against Spain in the last match and Switzerland wins, all 3 teams will end up with 6 points. And then two times 1-0 isn’t very good. But they can of course just manage not to lose against Spain…
Spain – Honduras
Villa made the first two goals and missed a penalty and the chance for a hattrick, but David Villa and the reigning European Champions are back in the hunt, and as written above we gonna have a very exciting last round in this group…

Summary of day 8

It was a sensational Friday on the South African World Cup. Germany lost to Serbia, Slovenia – USA ended with a draw and the same happened to Algeria vs England.
Summary of the day 8 – 18th of June 2010
Germany – Serbia
In the 37th minute Miroslav Klose got a red card for second booking. One minute later Serbia got the lead thanks to Milan Jovanovic’s goal. Half time. In the 15th minute of the second half there was a penalty shot for Germany. Lukas Podolski was the one who shot and missed! Germany was still trying and Serbia was playing counter attacks, but there weren’t any more goals…
Slovenia – USA
Slovenia takes the lead in 13th minute and after another half an hour there’s already 2-0! The smallest nation in this World Cup is leading against the biggest one. In the second half USA gets a draw thanks to London Donovan’s and Marcus Bradley’s goals. It’s 2:2 but the Americans are not happy with this result. Maybe it’s because they should’ve won, the referee said “no” to the third goal scored by the Americans and only the referee knows why… It was a draw and one of the biggest controversy on this World Cup.
England – Algeria
When English journalists saw the teams that would play in their group they called it an easy group. I’m wondering if they’re still thinking of it in that way. Two games and two draws for Favio Capello’s boys proves that there’s no “easy” group in the World Cup. This time the match ended with a boring no goal draw…
